A neighbor recently wrote to the Pittsford Town Board asking each of us to share our resumes to learn more about the qualifications and experiences of the people currently serving the town.

It’s a fair question. Local government works best when residents take an interest in who represents them and how decisions are made. Rather than responding privately, I thought it would be more helpful to share the information here so anyone who is curious can access it.
Below is the short professional background I shared with my committee during the town board designation process, along with a link to my LinkedIn profile for those who would like more detail.
Public service is only one part of the story. Many of us serving on local boards balance professional careers, community commitments, and family responsibilities alongside our town duties. In my case, my professional work focuses on student success and leadership in higher education, while my community work has centered on civic engagement, education, and building connections across our community.
I’m also open on social media about life in the “sandwich generation.” Last week, for example, included many hours spent with my mom at her assisted living community. As an educator, I share so others know how to navigate when they enter this chapter with their loved ones. It's also been a community of support.
Transparency matters in local government, and neighbors should feel comfortable asking questions about the people entrusted with public office.

And when you see me around town, please say hello—I’m always glad to meet neighbors over a beverage or at a neighborhood gathering and learn from your experiences living in Pittsford.
Local government works best when neighbors stay curious, ask questions, and participate in the life of the town we share.
